The boy stared down at the huge, smooth, egg. It had black and red stripes running down the bottom of it. As the boy stared, his friend came over to him. "So? Has it moved yet?" the boy saw the worried expression that his friend made.
"It hasn't moved or cracked since last week. Do you think it's alive in there, Annie?" he asked her. She shook her head. "Well, whatever it is, it has to be dead. It won't hatch and I'll take it and make sure it's a goner." he told her.
She nodded and said, "Alright, I gotta go catch some fish. see you later Andrew." Annie said and walked off. Max looked down at the egg once more. He had a feeling that he was being watched.
He looked around. He saw nothing there. But he heard something growl above him. He looked up. There stood a huge dragon on a ledge of a tall rock.
It was black with red stripes down its spine. It had glowing red eyes. It stared back at him. He didn't move when he saw the dragon. The dragon started to move down the rock and straight towards him.
Andrew didn't take his eyes off the dragon. But he slowly took a dagger from his belt. He put it in front of him and started to back up. And when he did, he bumped his ankle against the egg sitting behind him. The dragon roared at Andrew.
He gripped the dagger tighter. He waited for the right moment to strike. But he heard footsteps running towards him from behind. He got distracted and turned and saw his friend Annie. She was carrying a sword and she stopped and stood beside him. "We can take it.... right?" She said worriedly.
He didn't hear her. He was waiting for the dragon to strike. "We need shields Andrew! I have to get them." Annie said. She left to get a shield but the dragon saw her leaving.
It stared at her with its glowing eyes and leaped off the rock and flew past Andrew. Andrew was knocked over by the huge tail. He looked at Annie and saw the dragon flying after her. "Annie watch out!" he shouted.
She heard him and got a shield and put it in front of her. The dragon blew lightning at the metal shield and it sent a electric shock through her body. Andrew ran over to help his friend... but it was too late. She collapsed to the ground. "NO!" Andrew sobbed.
His face went from sadness, to anger. He breathed heavily with hatred. He saw the sword that his friend had carried with her. It was on the ground next to the dragon. He quickly picked it up and leaped into the air.
He stabbed the dragon in the back. It let out a loud scream and fell to its side. Dead. After he killed the dragon, he ran over to where his friend lay. He listened to her heart.
There was no beat. She was dead. He got up and stared into the sunset. "I HATE DRAGONS! I will kill them all!" He shouted. He ran over to the egg and kicked it. it hit a large rock. He took the sword with him. He left his friend where she lay and walked away in the darkness.
He didn't look back.
